James (Jim) M. Titcomb, 49, of Severn, Maryland passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the happiest time of his life, on his wedding day surrounded by family and friends who he loved dearly with all his heart.
Jim was born on June 4, 1970 in Cheverly, MD. The son of James Michael and Sharon Titcomb, Jim grew up in the town of Crofton, MD. A proud graduate of Arundel High School, Jim loved his hometown and all Maryland has to offer – including boating, camping and eating steamed crabs every chance he could.
Beloved husband of Cathy Titcomb, loving son of Sharon Drew, devoted father of Melissa (21) and Michael (26), brother of Bill, John and Jason, uncle to Hailey, Circe, Tristan, Cailin and Cora and brother-in-law to Courtney Titcomb. He is also survived by his Uncle Bill Oliver and Aunt Karen, cousins Amy and Danny; his Uncle Larry Oliver and Aunt Lexi, cousins Lisa, Lori and Joey; his Uncle Bob Oliver and his Uncle Carl and Aunt Linda, cousins Laura and Carey. He is also survived by his former wives Cynda and Rachel.
Jim lived life to the fullest and was a friend to all he met. He was devoted to his new bride, his children, family and extensive network of friends and expressed his love openly and often. He was an authentically kind and generous man. Far from shy, he was known to play pranks and be the life of the party. He pursued his interests with passion and purpose. He loved grilling outdoors and watching his beloved Redskins play football on Sundays.
Jim loved driving his treasured Jeep Wrangler on the beach in Assateague, MD and riding his Harley Davidson Softail Custom motorcycle. An avid traveler, Jim had seen the world, most recently having travelled to England, Canada and Hawaii with Cathy. He enjoyed cooking as well as a good meal out and a glass of fine wine.
A music lover and former band member of Dick Was a Fish, he played the guitar and piano and enjoyed attending concerts, particularly heavy metal and Reggae. There isn’t a band or musical artist that Jim hadn’t seen perform live.
Jim also loved animals. He was a cat lover and recently became a dog lover as well when Cathy’s dog Marley joined the family.
Jim had a lifelong career supporting the Intelligence Community in a variety of roles as both a contractor and more recently as a federal government employee. He was an accomplished and proven technical leader at NSA supporting Cyber Defense and Information Assurance. Jim gave back to the next generation of cyber leaders by leading NSA’s Cyber Defense Exercise which trained U.S. military Academy’s students in the art of Cyber Defense.
