Jean M. Klapp (age 87) of Bowie, Maryland passed away on August 26, 2021 following a long illness. She was predeceased by her husband James of 63 years at the time he died in 2017.  She leaves behind her 4 children: Jim, Amanda, Angela and Andrea; 5 grandchildren: Sarah, Kristopher, Matthew, Katharine and Emma; 6 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Dylan, Haley, Dustyn, Daryl, and Axel. She is also survived by a younger sister, Ann Walker and her family of Leicester, England.

Born and raised in Leicester England, she completed her early schooling and studied Art in college classes. At 18, in June of 1953, she met US Airman Jim Klapp, while attending a dance in Lakenheath, England. A year later, March 20, 1954 they were married.  After they married, they returned to the United States and began their life together. During their early years of marriage, they lived in Kentucky, Ohio, Germany, and Spain before finally settling in Bowie, MD in 1964.

After settling in Bowie, Jean proudly raised 4 children while being involved in many other activities.  She enjoyed participating in their church, bowling leagues, china painting, hosting dinner parties, singing groups and spending time with all of her family as it grew in numbers.

After three years of battling several medical conditions, she succumbed to her illnesses. In her final few days, Jean was surrounded by her family and passed peacefully.

A visitation gathering will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 1-2pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3 South), Bowie MD followed by a Memorial Service at 2pm. Please view and sign the family’s guestbook at: www.beallfuneral.com

The family will be having an informal reception after the memorial service at Jeans home.
