Jeanne M. Toulotte

Jeanne Miller Toulotte of Bowie, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2023.  Jeanne was born on March 26, 1922 in Plainfield, NJ. 

Although born in New Jersey, Jeanne was raised in Noroton Heights, Connecticut where she met her future husband Bertin Toulotte who was attending Naval Radio School there in 1940.  A long distance romance ensued as World War II intruded and Bert was sent to sea.  Home on a short leave Jeanne and Bert eloped and got married in New York City on December 2, 1944.  After the war, the family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, then to Washington D.C. before settling in Bowie in 1962.  She was active in the community in those early years in Bowie, especially at the Belair Swim & Racquet Club where she was on the Board of Directors and as a swim team coach.  After family, her biggest passion was gardening which she continued to do well into her 90’s.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bert Toulotte, her sister Mikie Page, her brother Bill Miller, her daughter Denise Kotajarvi, her sons Bertin Toulotte and Paul Toulotte, and her grandsons Chris Toffolo and Benjamin Toulotte.

Survivors include her sister Patricia Sherwood, her son Stephen Toulotte, grandchildren Dawn Rentz, Douglas Toulotte, Michelle Toulotte, Marissa Bunting, Alyse Duda, Grace Toulotte and Arielle Toulotte.

She will be buried with her husband on June 23rd, 2:30 pm at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 1301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.   A memorial service will be held on June 24th, 1:00 pm at her home in Bowie, 2906 Barrister Lane.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
