Jennie Santini was born on June 24, 1929 to parents who traveled by ship from Vasto, Italy seeking a new life for themselves and future generations. She was the first of her siblings born in the United States of America. Jennie entered into heaven on May 19, 2020 and was finally reunited with her beloved parents, Antonio and Lucia (née Bruno) Santini, as well as her siblings, Nicola “Nick” (Dorothy), Michael (Jean), Filomena “Manny” (Louis “Lou”) Marfuggi, and Filippo. Jennie was a devout Catholic whose faith helped her through all of life’s struggles as well as its joys. She was a devoted daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, and God-mother who cherished spending time sharing a meal, exchanging smiles and laughter, and creating lasting memories of special celebrations. Jennie was a caregiver for many family members over the years and her sweet nature was well known, wherever she traveled and lived. In addition to countless numbers of cousins and friends whom she loved, “Aunt Jennie” was blessed with 6 God-children (Juanita, Jean, Marco, Susan, Brenda, and Eric), 12 nieces and nephews, 29 great-nieces and nephews, 39 great-great nieces and nephews, 1 great-great-great niece and 1 great-great-great nephew.
Dearest Aunt Jennie, you will always remain alive in our hearts and memories, and until we meet again, may God hold you in His loving arms as we know you are now “Free” and “Safely Home.”
The Santini family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, volunteers, and staff at Genesis Waugh Chapel Center for taking such good care of our Aunt Jennie.
Safely Home
I am home in heaven, dear ones;
Oh so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
Did you wonder how I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh, but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And he came himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remains,
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
