Jerry Duane Nickel “Nick”, 87, was born in North Dakota on May 22, 1935 and passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on December 14th, 2022.
Nick is survived by his beloved spouse Beverly Croghan, together for 30+ years as a blended family. He dearly loved all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by Ginger, a Norwick Terrier who laid by his side until his very last day.
Jerry grew up in Minot, North Dakota and was a graduate from Minot Senior High School. He retired from the United States Air Force with 22 years of service. During his Air Force career as a Technical Sergeant he worked on many types of aircraft with the Boeing B-52 Stratofortressi being his favorite. He had a second career serving as Lt. at the Department of Corrections in Jessup, MD. His final retirement job was a security guard at BJ’s.
Nick was an avid Yankees and Cowboys fan, and a Proud USAF Veteran. One of his great loves was “Going Fishing”. He also enjoyed spending many hours painting animals, scenery and people with water colors.
Above all he enjoyed spending time with family and going for a walk in the park with his beloved dog. He was a good man, with a kind soul, thoughtful, giving and protective of those he loved. He will be dearly missed.
