Jimmie Kell Young passed away peacefully at his Bowie home surrounded by his loving family on November 16, 2023.
He was born on December 16, 1942 in Tremont, Mississippi to James and Ann Young. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to the Washington D.C. area. Jimmie graduated from Northwestern High School in 1960. He served in the US Army and later graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Electrical Engineering followed by a lengthy career with the Veteran’s Administration. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. And, because he never met a stranger, he has a multitude of friends.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; sons, Jason (Coni), Josh (Lindsey), and Jeremy Young, by his first wife, Beverly; bonus children, Jason (Sarah) and Drew (Kristen) Robertson, Gina Woods (Kyle), and 20 grandchildren: Madeleine, Oli, Olivia, Drayden, Jackson, Gia and Jimmy Young; Jason Jr. (Michele), Drew Jr. (Katie), Jayda and Zac (Amy), Rocco, Bo, Vinny, Romeo, Lewis and Gabriella Robertson; Ruby, Grayson, and Jake Woods.
He is also survived by his sister, Linda McCann (Jeff), brothers Johnny (Elly), Pepper (Marlene) Young, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his bonus son, Zachary Robertson.
