Jimmy Pierce Neal answered his Last Alarm on April 9, 2020 at Hospice of St Mary's, Callaway, Md.  Born in West Graham, Va.  on April 5, 1931  to Floyd and Donnie Cable Neal.  Beloved husband for 51 years to Mary Martha  Neal, who preceeded him in January 2018 . He is survived by his son Mark Neal  and step-son Thomas E. Gardner (Donna), step daughter-in-law Christine Gardner and step son-in-law James Cain.  His  grandchildren, Michael, Matthew,  Mark, and Billie Neal, step-grandsons  Brandon Gardner,  Wm. Robert Gardner III, Adam Cain, Benjamin and  William Harding  and step-grandaughter Tiffany Mitsouras.  In addition to  numerous great and great-great grandchildren, many neices, nephews,  and close friends.  He was preceded in death by  his son David Neal,  step-son William R. Gardner, Jr. , step-daughter Martha Ann Cain, and his sister Charlotte Joan Gardner.

After high school he attended Bluefield College prior to joining the U.S. Marine Corp and serving in Japan, Hawaii and Korea.  Settling in Prince George County after his military service, he lived in Seabrook, Md from 1967, until moving to St.Mary's County in 1993.  A bookkeeper for West Bro. Brick Co. before getting his CDL license and driving for Hess Oil Company,  American Tour Bus Line and Gold Line. This allowed him to travel many places in the United States.  He retired in 1998 and a few years later purchased a motor home to travel the country with his wife and camping club friends.

He joined the Kentland Volunteer Fire Dept(KVFD)  in January, 1962 and was made a life member in 1972. While involved with KVFD , he  served as sergeant, captain and deputy chief. He loved calling Bingo three times a week for Kentland.  His services to Prince George County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association (PGCVFRA), included Secretary 1986 to 1989,   Chaplain for the County, later becoming Chaplain emeritus.    He was inducted into the PGCVFRA Hall of Fame in 1994.  The only man ever to receive the honor of being inducted into the Ladies Auxillary for PGCVFRA in 2001. He received the Norris Beard Humane Award in 2000.
