Joan M. Kerno

March 11, 1937 — June 23, 2024

Crofton

On Sunday, June 23, 2024, Joan Marie Kerno passed away peacefully. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert (Bob) S. Kerno Sr. and parents, William and Dorothy Kenny. She is survived by her children Robert S. Kerno Jr. (Teddi) and Kimberly A. Campbell; three grandchildren Kevin Kerno (Karen), Sarah Murillo (Jake) and Allison Campbell and two great grandchildren Isabella Murillo and Julian Robert Murillo.

Her grandson Kevin and his wife are expecting her third great grandchild, Ben in July 2024. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Joan graduated from High School in Darby, Pennsylvania. Bob and Joan moved to Bowie, Maryland in the early 1960's where she was a homemaker. The couple moved to Crofton, Maryland in 1964 and were one of the first homeowners in what was to become one of the most respected communities in the region. Joan enjoyed watching NFL football and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. The highlight of her year was always the Army Navy game. She also loved the Naval Academy where her son, grandson and grandson in law all graduated. Bob and Joan eventually retired to their waterfront home in Ocean Pines Maryland. Joan loved animals and over the years they had several cats and dogs but mom’s fondest memories were taking care of her daughter’s pet Iguana, Ernest. She loved boating, fishing, crabbing, and eating at nice restaurants. Whenever you went to the beach to visit you could always find mom in her overstuffed chair looking out her sliding glass door at her million dollar view of the Saint Martin River. The family requests that any donations be made to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation 1133 15th Street NW Suite 1000 Washington, DC 20005
