JoAnn was an earnest and committed lifelong learner. She credited this trait to her teachers at Immaculate Conception High School in Washington, D.C. She pursued her interests with enthusiasm, whether it be history, needlecrafts, classical realism oil painting at Schuler School of Fine Arts, gardening or astrophysics.
She was an intrepid traveler, who particularly adored Florence, Italy and even climbed a part of Angel Falls in Venezuela. She was a broad-minded and generous woman who appreciated people of all ages and interests.
After her husband’s death in 1985, she helped manage his business for several years before retiring to Maryland’s Eastern shore where she enjoyed admiring waterfront views and observing the varied flora and fauna surrounding her home there.
JoAnn is survived and missed by her daughter, Lynn and grandson, Josh and siblings, Ed & Patti Faulkner and Darlene & Tommy Thompson and of course, her beloved parrot, Mickey.
JoAnn was predeceased by her husband, Paul F. Beall, Sr. and sons, James Bernard Beall (infant), Paul F. ”Chip” Beall, Jr. and Walter L. “Wally” Beall and son-in-law Thomas D. James, Jr.
Funeral is private.
