John R. Dean, son of Iris and Raymond Dean (deceased), brother of William Dean, Helen (Dean) Kinney, Rita Dean, Cathy (Dean) Bodenhorn, Linda (Dean) Banwarth, Doris (Dean) Gilbert, Thomas Dean, and Marjorie (Dean) Williams, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 80 on March 18th in Cambridge, MD of natural causes. John was a graduate of St. John DeMatha High School, Hyattsville, MD in 1961, and later studied at the Sacred Heart Monastery College (The Trinitarian Monastery) from July of 1961 to October of 1964 in Pikesville, MD before leaving to pursue a laity avocation. John was a skilled chess player, avid reader, served in the National Guard, and was a computer technician at Johns Hopkins University in his younger years. John is remembered as a kind and loving brother, brother-in-law, and uncle by all of the family. We will miss his smile, his witty sense of humor, and his caring attitude toward all who knew him. The family takes comfort in knowing that John is now at peace in the loving arms of the Lord. A mass will be held on March 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 1940 Mitchellville Rd, Bowie, MD 20716, with internment following at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Rd, Clinton, MD 20735.
