John T. Heine

John Thomsen Heine 11 October 1935 – 15 May 2022.

John, known as Tom by his family, passed away peacefully at his home in Bowie Maryland on 15 May 2022, surrounded by his family.  John was born in Baltimore to the late Helen Carroll and Joseph Heine on 11 October 1935.  He was the loving husband of Eleanor (nee Linton) Heine of Baltimore, who predeceased him in 2008.  John joined the Marines in 1953 and served for 20 years as a tank crewman and EOD technician, including several assignments as a Drill Instructor in Parris Island SC and multiple deployments to Vietnam.  After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1972, he settled in Alexandria Virginia and then Bowie MD, where he worked for Earlbeck. He loved to read, watch hockey and spend quality meals and fellowship with his many friends at the Nautilus Diner in Crofton Maryland.   He is predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Vincent Whitely, Edward Heine, Elizabeth Nolan, Jerry Heine, and Patricia O’Hara.  He is survived by his sister Eileen Stanford of Meadville PA; his step daughters, Roberta Kenly of Bel Air MD; Lorrie and John Anderson of Hendersonville NC; grandchildren Hugh C “Skip” Carr III and Angela Carr of Westminster; Tim Carr and Kellie Stonesifer of Westminster; Tricia Carr of Portsmouth, NH;  Terri and Ed Eliason of Bel Air MD; Robyn and Art Basehart of Yorba Linda CA, Mary Beth Reynolds and Kelly Pindell of Middle River MD, Kimberly Reynolds and Vicki Kelley of Catonsville MD, Lori Reynolds and Kelly Brown of Pasadena MD, and several nieces and nephews.  The family is planning a memorial event in June.
