John Henry Waller. 88 of Bowie. MD, peacefully transitioned on August 10th. 2024.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 27th, 1936 to Eugene and Hattie Waller, who he never passed up an opportunity to talk about. While born in Pittsburgh, he spent most of his childhood in Petersburg, Virginia where he attended Virgina State University, majoring in Business Administration. It wasn't long before he joined the Army, and shortly after taking his career to the US Government working for over 38 years and retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Fair Housing. John met the love of his life, Marie-Jose in 1963 while stationed in Paris, France. Excited to start their new lives together. the two were married in September of 1963 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, Valerie, in the beginning of 1964. Three years later, they welcomed a son. Frederic. He took pride in his role in the Army and the US Government. He loved cooking, and spending time with loved ones, though John's favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured his time with his granddaughter, Gabrielle, and loved being her Papy. He will always be remembered for his devotion to the Lord, his witty sense of humor, and his charitable personality. We'll always imagine him saying, "Keep the peace." one more time. We couldn't have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, and friend and we will miss him every day. His memory will live in our hearts forever. John was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Waller, mother, Hattie Waller, brothers. Irvin and Eugene (Leroy) Waller. and wife Marie-Jose Waller. He is survived by daughter, Valerie Waller, Son, Frederic Waller, granddaughter Gabrielle Milton (Austin Coard), great-granddaughter Peyton Coard, and other extended family.
