Jordan R. Taylor

August 9, 1991 — November 28, 2021

Jordan Reneé Taylor passed away in her sleep in the early morning of November 28th, 2021 in Bowie, MD. She was born at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA on August 9, 1991. Jordan lived in Hampton until the family moved to Bowie, MD in 1997. At the time of her death, Jordan lived in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph R. Taylor Jr, and her four grandparents. Jordan is survived by her mother, Barbara Taylor, her brother Gabriel Taylor, and her “adopted” sister Silver Kaylor. She is also survived by loving Aunts Becky, Belinda, Ally, Lorrie, Kathy and Judy; Uncles Mike, Andy, and Robert; many first and second cousins, countless professional and personal friends like Tristan Kaylor, Sydney Reed, and Mikhaila Young, and her “Barky Poop” four- legged buddy, Samson.

One of Jordan’s most proud accomplishments was receiving her Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from East Tennessee State University. Jordan started a Book Club at the University that was very successful and lasted even beyond her graduation.

Jordan loved her Mom and brother deeply. Time with Mom involved shopping, getting their nails done or TV shows like Scandal or Gilmore Girls. Time with Gabriel was filled with comedy shows, cooking together, analyzing movies or discussing books they were both reading. She loved ALL things Wizard of Oz, the Baltimore Ravens, scary movies and mystery programs. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed biographies and mysteries. She also LOVED talking to people. Jordan was affable, and engaging in conversations was easy for her. She was real, fiercely loyal, polite, and the one to whom her friends would come to if they had a real problem. She was not without fault or struggles but every day she fought to be the best version of herself that she could be.

Jordan was thrilled to begin a new life chapter in Knoxville.  She was “home” in Tennessee, and was over the moon about her new job as a Gecko Junkie employee. She loved meeting people, believed in her boss and enjoyed learning a whole new business. Gecko’s! Who knew?

Jordan loved her Lord and Savior, and was grateful for her salvation gift. She loved Christmas because of family time and all the gifts she received, but her most meaningful holiday was definitely Easter. She loved calling her Mom on Good Friday to tell her “It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming!” She loved hearing Sandi Patti and Larnelle Harris singing “I’ve Just Seen Jesus.” Jordan now has too...

Jordan was a very introspective thinker and truthful analyzer of her life successes and faults. She wrote this on her recent 30th Birthday: … “This birthday has been one of equal parts celebration and contemplation. I’m grateful and excited about the milestone that is 30, yet contemplating those nearest and dearest I’m unable to share it with (Budda, keep leaving the light on for me) and what the future holds for me. God, bless my life and times, hardships and victories, losses and gains… every memory and each person I’ve been given the privilege to know and love.”

Jordan was heartbroken over the loss of her Dad (Budda) and best friend. She always said “One fine day, I’ll get to hold your hand again…” We believe she now is doing just that.

“And remember, my sentimental friend, that a heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.” – L. Frank Baum
