Hyattsville

Joseph E. Bean, affectionately known as Joe, was born on March 28, 1968, in Prince George's County, Maryland.  Joe's journey came to a sudden close on April 8, 2025, in Silver Spring, Maryland, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and love.

A proud graduate of Bowie High School, Joe embarked on a few professional adventures throughout his life. He spent time working with Pepco and contributed his efforts at a thrift store in Southern Maryland and cleaning fire stations in Southern Maryland.

Joe loved connecting with people. He delighted in family outings and enjoyed unforgettable cruises with loved ones and the staff from Our Care. One of his most treasured places in his later years was the Baltimore Aquarium.  Family visits were not only a chance to reconnect but also opportunities for shared experiences—whether it was enjoying a meal or exploring the local movie theater, museum, or zoo together. These moments became cherished memories.

Joe was deeply loving, with a heart full of kindness. He was especially fond of the wonderful staff at Our Care, who he regarded as part of his extended family. The family would like to express sincere thanks to all of the staff at Our Care who treated him with love, compassion and understanding.

With an adoration for his own family, he maintained a "Bean Family Address" list, and faithfully reached out to check in on them and their well-being. Family reunions stood as a highlight in his life, filled with warmth and connection. We can only imagine the welcome he received from his beloved Beans who passed before him, embracing him in a grand reunion filled with joy.

His personality shone through in his interactions. Joe was known for never speaking an unkind word about anyone, reminding all who knew him that being different does not equate to being less.

Joe is predeceased by his parents, Wayne Bean and Mary Bean. He is survived by his siblings, Julie Bisgaard, Laura Stenger and David Bean, along with their respective families—Scott, Amanda, Ethan, Ricky, Paul, Tara, Alyssa, and Andrea; and numerous cousins. They carry forward his memory and the lessons of kindness that he imparted during his life.

As we remember Joe, let us hold close the light he brought into our lives, a story that encourages compassion and empathy.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
