Joseph J. Eck, beloved husband of Sandra Eck, Bowie, MD passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019 at AAMC Hospital, Annapolis, MD. Joe was born June 21, 1934, in Richmond Hills, Queens, NYC, NY to Joseph and Helen Eck. Joe, known as “Bud” to many, graduated Kenwood High School in 1952, then served six years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force combined. Bud attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering before beginning his federal career service in 1960 working for NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). Bud retired from NASA/GSFC in 1997. His interests included military history, baseball, tennis, boating and fishing, reading, music and dancing. Bud and Sandy were active members of the D.C. Hand Dance Club, and one of the first members of Belair Bath and Tennis Club, Bowie. Bud and Sandy were also amongst the original Levitt homeowners. Bud was also an active member of the American Legion, Post 7, Annapolis, MD. Survivors include his wife Sandra of 60 years, a son Greg Eck and his spouse Cindy, and a granddaughter, Melissa Eck, all of Bowie, MD.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Crofton, MD on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at 11 a.m. A repast will follow the service. A private burial at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD will follow at a later date. Express your condolences with flowers sent to Joe’s mass service, or, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 7, 1905 Crownsville Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Mention in memory of Joe Eck. Bud was a resident of Bowie, MD at the time of passing.
