Joseph Allen Mastromarino

October 29, 1968 — November 12, 2019

On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Joseph Allen Mastromarino passed away suddenly at his home in Glen Burnie, Maryland.  Joseph was born in Cheverly, Maryland to Joan Ann Mastromarino (née Angelier) and Anthony Charles Mastromarino, both of Washington D.C.

Joseph grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, first in Green Meadows of Hyattsville, and then in Largo. In his youth, Joseph attended Riverdale Baptist School, and was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, where he came to faith in Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. R. Herbert Fitzpatrick.

As an adult, Joseph married and lived at first in Houston, Texas, Charlotte, North Carolina, and then, finally settled in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was a plumber by trade and spent many years enjoying his work until he unfortunately became disabled in an automobile accident in 2002 while vacationing with his family in Ellijay, Georgia.

Joseph was a true outdoorsman and loved spending his time in nature. He was a true dog lover, having had three Chihuahuas in Georgia. He dreamed of moving to Florida and spending his golden years on the water on a houseboat in the Keys.

When Joseph became visually impaired, he came to live with his brother Anthony in Glen Burnie, Maryland, on March 25, 2017. After having settled in Maryland, Joseph and Anthony attended Granite Baptist Church in Glen Burnie. He and his brother Anthony were searching for a house to call home so Joseph could get another dog. Since coming to live with his brother Anthony, the two became best friends although they had their differences.

While living with his brother, Joseph underwent several surgeries to correct his physical disabilities that were met with success.

Like his father, Joseph never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went.  From his next door neighbors to all the staff at his local shopping center; everyone loved his huge heart and were like family to him.

Like his mother, Joseph was a very caring, loving and generous person. He would give you the shirt off his back, or the last dollar in his wallet.

Even through health challenges in his later days, he developed lasting and memorable relationships with his neighbors, health aides, therapists and case workers. Everyone who met him encountered his genuine and loving heart.

Joseph is predeceased in death by his mother, Joan Ann Perry, his stepfather, Olden Dumont “Duke” Perry, and his stepson, Philip Burson.

Joseph is survived by his father, Anthony Mastromarino, Sr., stepmother Jeannette Mastromarino, his son Joseph Mastromarino, Jr., daughter Carly Mastromarino, 3 step-children Karen, Matthew, and Michael Burson, and his brothers Lawrence, Anthony, James, Charles, Christopher Mastromarino, and David Perry. He is also survived by a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2019, at Beall Funeral Home located in Bowie, Maryland, with funeral service immediately following. Burial services will take place at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, Maryland
