It is with profound sadness and a void in our hearts that we bid farewell and celebrate the life of Joyce “Faye” Anthony. Faye, was born in Chowan County, NC to the late Wiley and Alice Holley Nichols. She grew up in Merry Hill, NC and attended Bertie County Public Schools. She joined church at an early age and was a member of Peterson Chapel Baptist Church. After school, she worked at the Edenton Cotton Mill and took a parttime job working at a TV Repair Shop in Merry Hill. It was at this very place that she met her husband, Willie Anthony. After a brief courtship, Faye and Willie became engaged and relocated to Maryland. They were married on November 25, 1989, and recently celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary. Faye then joined the US Postal Service and enjoyed a long, gratifying career as a Mail Handler. After relocating Faye attended Armor of Light Christian Worship Center in Bowie, MD. After a lengthy and debilitating battle with dementia, Faye peacefully transitioned while surrounded by family.
Faye’s loving memory is deeply cherished by all of her family and friends. In her absence, she leaves to mourn her devoted husband and caregiver, Willie; her brother, Wiley Nichols (Johnnie) of Washington, DC; her sisters, Hester Cooper of Merry Hill; Sophia Dews of Waldorf, MD; Martha Gail Rice (Eli) of Waldorf, MD; Sisters-in-law and her primary care providers, Martha Perry of Camp Springs, MD and June Owens of Bladensburg, MD; an extensive host of adored nieces and nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Wiley & Alice Holley Nichols and siblings; Alice Nichols Moore, Fletcher Nichols, and Robert Nichols.
