Joyce Ann Phipps

Mrs. Joyce Ann Phipps (née Drumheller), of Shenandoah, VA, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at the age of 68.

Joyce was born to parents William A. Sr. (Bill) and Dorothy D. Drumheller on June 16, 1951, in Shenandoah, VA. She Graduated from Bladensburg High School in 1969. On August 1,1972, she married the love of her life, Harold “Pete” Phipps.  The couple had two children and nine grandchildren. Joyce retired from Griffith Oil in 2007 after working for 20 years.  When her husband Pete, an Army Veteran, was diagnosed with Leukemia and Lymphoma she focused on supporting his health and calling awareness to the disease.  Following Pete’s death on February 12, 2011, Joyce continued to rally support for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society all while putting family first. 

Joyce is survived by her daughters, Theresa Phipps and Kimberly Reid (Derrick Sr.); her sister, Debra Stubbs (John) of Georgetown DE and Evelyn Wagner of Florence, SC and her brother Donald Drumheller (Donna) of Ft.Lauderdale, FL; nine grandchildren Kristen, John, Eddie, Erin, Daniel, Kayla Cheyenne, Derrick Jr, Drevon; and 2 great-grandchildren Aiden and Skylar. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Phipps; her parents, William A (Bill) and Dorthy D.; her step-mom, Kathryn R. (Kitty); her sisters, Edith L Comer, Roberta L. O'Connell and Betty L. Williams ; and her brothers, William A and Robert L.

Joyce wished to be cremated so that she may be interred with Pete at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.  Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at Beall Funeral Home at a later date.
