Judith A. Mastrogianis, Obituary, November 14, 1942 to December 4, 2024

Judith A. Mastrogianis (nee Dolan), age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by family at the Gilchrist Center in Towson, Maryland.

Judi was born on November 14, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Eastern High School, followed by the Baltimore School of Dentistry, where she received an associate’s degree in dental hygiene. Judi worked as a dental hygienist up until her marriage to her husband, George Mastrogianis. George and Judi moved to Bowie, Maryland, in 1966, where she raised their two daughters and her youngest brother. Judi began working for the Prince George’s County Public Schools as a substitute teacher and for the Prince George's County Police Department as a Crossing Guard, where she was initially assigned as a traffic coordinator for the old Bowie Race Track. She was later designated to work the intersections around Yorktown, Rockledge, and Tulip Grove Elementary Schools, where she monitored and provided safety for generations of Bowie school children.

Judi retired in 2001 and moved to Ocean Pines, Maryland. She continued to work as a volunteer for a number of support groups, which included the Irish Outreach, a program designed to coordinate housing and living supplies for the young people of Ireland who flocked to work in Ocean City each summer. As a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of the Hibernians, Judi marched each year in the Ocean City St. Patrick’s Day Parade and helped to raise funds for local schools and charity organizations. Judi was also an ardent and competitive member of the Ocean Pines paddle tennis community. She was hard-working, fun-loving, and dearly committed to her family and friends. Judi lived her life dedicated to the support of others. She will be dearly missed by everyone she touched.

Judi was predeceased by her husband, George. She is survived by daughters Shannon Papa (R.C.) and Christa Mastrogianis (Shayne), sister Margie Sherwood (Don), and brothers; Brian Dolan (Cathy), Denis Dolan (Debbie), Patrick Dolan (Kathy), Michael Dolan (deceased), Tim Dolan (Terri). She was a loving grandmother to T.J., Joey (Kelly), Robert (Brianna), and Kennedy and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Judi will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at the New Cathedral Cemetary in Baltimore. Celebration of life events will be scheduled for later dates for friends and family in each of the communities where Judi lived.
