Julia Libia Reed, 78, beloved wife of Walter Lee Reed and resident of Davidsonville, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, January 21, 2020. “Julie” was born on June 3, 1941 in Yungay, Peru to parents Alilcia Jaramillo Melendez and Pio Osorio Rojo.
Julie emigrated to the United States in 1965 and lived with her Aunt Luisa Aylas in northern Virginia, helping raise her cousins. Later, Julie went on to work as quality control assistant for the Marriott Corporation when she serendipitously met her husband, Walter. They married in 1972 and went on to work side-by-side for the Washington Post until retirement in 2008. Since retirement, Julie enjoyed playing the slot machines at various area casinos and earning rewards until four grandchildren came along and took up most of her time.
Julie is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years; daughters Karen Dessart and Sabrina Fountas, and their husbands, Baudouin and John; grandchildren Juliana, Daniella, Maxim, and Christian; brother Ernesto Osorio Jaramillo; her beloved Aunt Luisa Aylas and her children Martha, Ella, Elisa, Jackie, Patricia, and Lenny.
Julie is preceded in death by many relatives in the tragic 1970 Ancash earthquake. She is also preceded in death by several family pets she loved and cared for over the years: Blackie, Misty, Toonces, Doobie, Gino, Smokey, and Little bits.
