On Tuesday, October 20, 2020 Kenneth Carl Dotson, loving father of three children passed away peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his home at the age of 70.Ken was born on December 27, 1949 in DC to Malcolm E. Dotson and Mildred R. (Hillman) Dotson. He graduated Northwestern High School class of 1967 then left for the Navy shortly there after.
He served his country for four years that included a tour in Vietnam and went on to serve in the reserves.Ken loved his toys, Corvette, Harley Davidson bikes, and a long ponytail. In his early days he was a master electrician and always spoke about his love for his country.Not long after, he gave up all the toys and eventually that long ponytail for becoming a father. His daughters, Allison, Shannon, and Kasey became everything he worked for.Ken spent the past decade traveling the world. He traveled throughout the U.S., Thailand, Afghanistan, New Zealand, England, and lived in Australia for five years.Ken ended up settling back in Bowie, Maryland and buying a home where he always wanted to be. Here is where he enjoyed countless visits from his grandchildren, Samuel P. Henley Jr., Nathan C. Henley, Elizabeth R. Henley, Lily R. Doherty, and Wesley M. Doherty. He was known as “Hoppa” and “Pappy” to them.
Ken’s home is filled with awards, pictures, certificates, and lots of patches, he loved his patches. He was a very proud man and his home was a display case of all his accomplishments, especially his three daughters.Ken leaves behind his children, Allison R. Kelly, Shannon R. Dotson, and Kasey M. Doherty. Leaves behind (2) sisters Peggy I. Dotson and Kathleen M. Dotson, as well as several cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is joining his parents, Malcolm E. Dotson and Mildred R. (Hillman) Dotson, as well as his brothers, Ronald S. Dotson and Douglas E. Dotson in heaven.
