Lena Lorraine Nose, 87, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020. She was well cared for at Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in her final days. She had recently lived at Regency Park Assisted Living in Gambrills where she enjoyed having many people around her every day. Lena was born on February 17, 1933 to Bessie Gertrude and Dorsey Edward Larew in Independence, West Virginia. She was a coal miner’s daughter that loved country music and enjoyed square dancing. Extended family events were often scheduled specifically knowing that Lena would want to see her favorite Terps play. In high school she was also chosen as Princess to represent at the Preston County Buckwheat Festival. As a young woman , Lena lived a very independent life leaving the countryside of West Virginia to find her future in Washington DC.
where she married George C. Nose in 1953. After that, she was employed at HB Properties of Annapolis for the next 33 years. Lena retired at the age of 82. Also known as Lee, she would say she had a pretty great life.
