Linda Baine, 79, of Bowie, MD passed away peacefully at home on July 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She had suffered a four year battle with cancer, overcoming many obstacles during that time.
She was born on May 26, 1942 to Ralph and Elsie Teetsel in Glen Ridge, NJ and resided in Springfield, PA for most of her early years prior to her graduation from Thiel College in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. She taught in elementary schools in Fairfax Co, VA and Bowie for several years before becoming a full-time mother to two wonderful daughters. She then fulfilled her passion for children by teaching preschoolers at St. Matthew’s Early Education Center in Bowie for over thirteen years. She also held a Master’s degree in childhood guidance from Bowie State University.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Dave, whom she married on July 25, 1964 and their two daughters, Karyn (Randy) Pryor and Kristen (Chris) Heyer. She will be profoundly missed by her eight grandchildren Jake, Rylie, Ben, Brady, Sydney, Becca, Seth and Bryce, all of whom she deeply loved and cherished.
Linda was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Bowie for 39 years and served on many groups including the Altar Guild and pastoral call committees. She is probably best remembered for her service to the homeless by leading All Saints’ Warm Nights mission. Her service work exemplified her strong faith which she maintained throughout her life.
Linda loved to sew, embroider, scrapbook and garden. She loved to share her talents with friends and family. Most of all, she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known for her great stories, craft projects, and always entertained the grandkids with her world famous pranks. Every family vacation included a production by the Heyer-Pryor Beach Band with Linda as their leader. She loved to travel and spend time at their cabin in Berkeley Springs, WV creating many wonderful memories with family and friends. Linda was known to all as generous, funny, kind, loving and selfless with an open heart.
Due to covid restrictions, a private celebration of Linda’s life will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church on July 31, 2021. Please click here to view the live stream of the service starting at 11:00am: https://youtu.be/Wq3_O8CE5VI
