It is with great sadness that the family of Linda F. Foster announces her passing on August 18, 2020, at the age of 78. Linda was born on April 6, 1942, to Roland V. and Gertrude I. (Tibbetts) Foran in Waltham, Massachusetts. Linda attended Bladensburg High School and graduated with the class of 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael J. Foster on May 15, 1965. With Mike by her side, Linda raised three children in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. and maintained a career as a secretary and eventually a bookkeeper for over 55 years. A long-time faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Landover Hills, Linda served her faith community as a volunteer, eucharistic minister, and room parent at the parochial school. Upon moving to Crofton, MD in 1998, Linda continued her faithful service as a charitable donor to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Adopt-a-Family holiday programs. Linda’s charitable giving included the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, D.C., Fisher House, and innumerable others.
Ask anyone who knew her and they would describe Linda with the following adjectives: honest, loving, selfless, kind, nurturing, inspirational, strong willed, warmhearted, hardworking, dedicated, and generous. Linda’s unyielding friendship and generosity were the foundations of her matriarchy. Linda was known for being understanding and a good listener, often anticipating the needs of others. Her greatest joy was playing hostess to boisterous gatherings of the Foran siblings, spouses, cousins, grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, further removed generations, and friends. Attendees were promised an abundant amount of good food, great laughs, and exceptional company. Linda will be remembered for her warmhearted nature and always putting others' needs above her own.
She is lovingly remembered by her high school sweetheart turned husband of 55 years Michael J. Foster, her children Michael T. Foster and Lindsey and Reece Collins, and four grandchildren Caroline, Katie, Hannah, and Michael Luke. Linda will also be fondly remembered by her brothers Don, John, Jim, her sister Jan, and her extended family and friends. Linda is preceded in death by parents Gertrude and Roland Foran, and daughter Laura Michelle Foster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington, D.C., Fisher House, and Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation.
