Linda G. Halterman

Linda Gail Halterman, aged 86, passed away on September 19, 2024, in Crofton, Maryland. Born on November 12, 1937, Linda dedicated her life to family and serving others, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Linda's education began with a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Penn State University followed by a Master's in Business from the University of Maryland. Her ultimate calling, however, was still the classroom. She landed a job at Old Mill High and taught math there for nearly three decades. Linda was not only respected for her teaching but also beloved for her role as a team player among colleagues.

Beyond her professional life, Linda was vibrant and constantly learning, with unending interests! A fitness enthusiast, she enjoyed jogging, tennis, and workouts. She was a great cook, excelled in sewing and knitting, and her love for history and travel often saw her exploring new cultures and places. In retirement, she remained active, singing with the Encore group, volunteering with the Assistance League of the Chesapeake, and enjoying precious moments with her beloved grandson, Hank Whitehouse.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Leslie Halterman; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Whitehouse; grandson, Hank Whitehouse; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Lynn Walrath; brother-in-law, Cam Halterman; and her ex-husband, Earl Halterman. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Celia Walrath.

Details of the memorial services will be announced at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Assistance League of the Chesapeake, an organization dedicated to school children in underserved areas. Services will be held for both Linda and Earl on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00pm at the Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD 20715.
