Lloyd Dale Yates

August 17, 1959 — July 30, 2020

Lloyd Yates, of Odenton, passed away on July 30, 2020.  He was born August 17, 1959 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  After spending several years in the foster care system, he was eventually adopted by Carl Yates Sr. and Agnes (Alderman) Yates of Rogers, Arkansas.  He also had one younger brother, Carl Yates Jr.  Upon graduation from Huntsville High School, he enlisted in the United States Army.  After basic training, Lloyd was trained as a general mechanic before being stationed in Frankfort, Germany where he met his future wife, Theresa (Provost) Yates.  While in the Army Lloyd earned ribbons for Overseas Service, Army Service & Good Conduct.   

 

After being honorably discharged in 1983, Lloyd and Theresa were married later that year in Enfield, Ct.  Eventually, they settled in Odenton, Maryland where they raised their only child, Rebecca (Yates) Snyder.  After the Army, Lloyd worked as a cab driver before being hired by the Department of Defense in 1988, where he worked until his death.  While at the Department of Defense, Lloyd worked in several different positions that earned him many awards for accuracy and efficiency.     

 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa, his daughter Rebecca, son-in-law Justin, his father Carl Sr., brother Carl Jr. as well as three nieces and three nephews.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Agnes.  Services will be scheduled once friends and out state family are safely able to gather.  In lieu of flowers, the family is asking you to consider donating to The Blue Ribbon Project, a local charity that supports victims of child abuse as well as children who are in the foster care system. https://blueribbonproject.org/
