Lorraine M. Calobong

Lorraine began her life in New York on May 12, 1930. She was the second born daughter to Marie Gossner Rivas and Edward Cadena Rivas.

Her family moved from New York to DC while Lorraine was in high school.  After graduating Lorraine worked on financial reports in the Federal Government where she met the love of her life, Dionicio Juan Calobong. Dionicio Juan and Lorraine Marie knew each other for 70 years and were married for 68 of those years. She raised five children in the Catholic faith and passed surrounded by her family on October 25, 2019.

Lorraine and DJ began their time together as dance partners and became partners in life for 70 years.

Lorraine's Philosophy: To dance is divine. Dance like the rhythm of a beating heart. It is, “as close to God as you are going to get without words.”
