Luther Mathew Slifer

Luther “Matt” Slifer, also lovingly known as “Poopah”, was taken from us on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at the age of 62. He was an amazing father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.

Born on August 8, 1959, he was raised in Lanham, MD. He worked for many years at Owings Mills Honda as a technician. Most recently he worked as the facility engineer for Piney Orchard Ice Arena. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, Volkswagen races, and most of all helping others.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther W. Slifer and Janice Slifer (nee Hill), brother Grant Slifer and sister Sheryl Potter. He is survived by his son, Mathew (Bethany) Slifer and 2 granddaughters, Hannah & Madilyn. He is also survived by his brother John (Barbara) Slifer, sisters Audrey (Jeff) Stansbury, Marshia (Dave) Hammen, Leslee Russell, Maureen (Michael) Schlictig, and many nieces & nephews who cared for him deeply.
