Mae Alice Henry Dubose, was born in Temple, Texas on August 17,1947. The second child of Archie Lee Fleming, Sr and Mae Bell Fleming. Mae Alice fell a sleep in death on March 10,2021 at home in Maryland with her family surrounding her.
Mae Alice attended Dunbar-Meredith High School in Temple, Texas. Mae Alice had a natural nurturing instinct which led her into the Nursing field. While working as a Nurse she worked at Scott and White Hospital, King Daughters Hospital as well as several other patient care facilities in Temple, Texas.
Mae Alice had five Daughters: Billie M. Williams-Henderson, Lakisha A. Henry, Kimberley M. Henry-Reeders, Toni A. Henry-Blackmon and Davielle D. Henry.
Mae Alice was known for loving her girls and grandchildren but she also shared that love with others. Mae Alice would often take it upon herself to not only provide for her own children but she would feed others kids in her neighborhood as well. There is no length that Mae Alice would not go to in order to show others that she cared about them, even offering them a place to stay in her home as well as spending her last dime on them. She took care of numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as others.
In 2008 she meet and married the love of her life and best friend Bernard Dubose in Maryland. She and Bernard led an active life in their Senior Community were they resided in Bowie, Maryland. They would often go to plays, concerts and her favorite restaurants the Olive Garden and On the Board. At night they would cuddle and look at houses on the internet as well eat some of her favorite snacks: Fritos, Lorna Doones, Krunch Popcorn, Paydays, and Cheetos.
Mae Alice’s favorite past time was shopping not only for herself but others as well. Her favorite places to shop were Macy’s, Ashley Stewart and Ross. She loved to get her hair and nails done as well as dress up. (She was the ultimate DIVA) She would often watch HGTV and Family Feud with family and friends. She played a mean game of Spades .
Mae Alice had a creative side which shown in her ability to make floral arrangements, wreaths, paint, and home décor which she handed down to her daughters. She was a great baker and cook often showcasing her ability in the meals she prepared for her family. Mae Alice will be remembered for her extreme generosity, her infectious laughter, sense of Humor and speaking her mind.
She is survived by her husband Bernard Dubose; Daughters: Billie M. Williams-Henderson (Gary), Lakisha A. Henry, Kimberley M. Henry-Reeders (David), Toni A. Henry-Blackmon, (Raymon) and Davielle D. Henry. Step-Daughter: Aquila Watson. She leaves behind: twenty three grandchildren; Adriana Henderson, Gary M. Henderson, Du’Marie Steward, Du’Zaria Henry, Du’Quavion Henry, Tai’Lor Henry, Tai’Quasha Henry, Ke'Marh Reeders, Ke'Yara Reeders, David Reeders, Dai Reeders, Tai’Niya Henry, Ray’Sia Blackmon, Raymon Blackmon, Jr, Shatayshia Blackmon, Dallas Burke, Chanel Watson, Jayda Watson, Ala’jah Henderson, Dior Henderson, Royale Carpenter, Amari Carpenter, and Cae’dyn Carpenter.
Her surviving siblings include two; sisters Susie Fleming and Ruth Bridges (Selman) both of Temple, Texas and three brothers; Elyose Fleming (Eloise) of Landover Hills, Maryland, Archie L. Fleming, Jr (Terri) and Richard E. Fleming (Shelia) both of Temple, Texas.
She also leaves behind a many nieces, many nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents: Archie L. Fleming, Sr. and Mae Bell Fleming.
