On Monday, December 28th, 2020, Marc Calix passed away unexpectedly in Washington, DC, only a short month after celebrating his 50th birthday. The world has lost a wonderful son, husband, father, caretaker, and a true friend.
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on November 8th, 1970, Marc migrated to the United States in 1986 and planted roots in Providence, Rhode Island. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Health from Penn State University and a Doctorate degree in Chiropractic Medicine from Parker University in Dallas, Texas. Marc was deeply passionate about the field of neurophysiology and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship training in neurology and electrophysiology.
Marc can be described as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, jokingly referred to as the “President for life of the Dallas Cowboys Fan Club” by his family and friends. An avid traveler and entertainer, Marc loved to cook and entertain, and would go the extra mile to ensure that everyone was having a great time. He was free-spirited, adventurous, caring, and enjoyed celebrating life. He played soccer, flew Cessna airplanes, had a very eclectic taste for music from around the world, and particularly enjoyed playing and dancing Haitian Konpa. He loved to play the Congas and drums and would often hold jam sessions with his friends and kids. Above all, Marc deeply cared for and loved his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judelande; his 3 children: Craig, Brielle, and Zephan; his mother, Mrs. Arabelle Calixte, several aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Mr. Alisma Calixte.
In lieu of flowers, the Family asks that you please make a donation to the GoFundMe Education Fund that's been put in place for the kids, at: https://gofund.me/5aa97a6c
