Marian Elizabeth Baldwin Creel, 86, of Davidsonville, MD passed away peacefully on February 13, 2020. She was born on December 14, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland to Eugene Francis and Blandina Moyer Baldwin. Marian was the oldest child of her family and is survived by her sisters, Ann Hochwarth and Elizabeth (Betty) Baldwin; and brother, Vincent. She was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas Baldwin and Eugene Baldwin; and her sister, Barbara Pula.
Mrs. Creel was educated at the St. Mary of the Assumption School, Mount St. Agnes High School, and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing; all in Baltimore. Mrs. Creel worked as a private duty and infant nursery RN at Mercy Hospital from 1956-1957. She also worked as a Geriatric RN in various nursing homes in Brooklyn Park and Catonsville, MD in the mid-1980s.
Mrs. Creel married George C. Creel on November 3, 1956, and is survived by him, and their 8 children: George Jr. (Karen) of Williamstown, NJ; Matthew (Monica) of Woodlawn, MD; David (Patty) of Marriottsville, MD; Susan (John) Fischer of Steubenville, OH; Theresa (Peter) Ziolkowski of Ann Arbor, MI; Martin (Amy) of Ashton, MD; Victor (Leanne) of Crofton, MD; and Andrew (Kristin) of Yorktown, VA. Mrs. Creel is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Creel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished cook, homemaker, and avid reader. Mrs. Creel actively supported her husband’s career as engineer, manager, and executive at BGE and Constellation Energy Group. She was active in several Catholic churches including St. Philip Neri, Linthicum Heights, MD; Holy Family, Davidsonville, MD; and, currently, Sacred Heart, Bowie, MD. Mrs. Creel was a Cooperator of the Catholic organization Opus Dei. She had been a pro-life volunteer at Birthright of Glen Burnie; and the Franciscan Center, Baltimore.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 19, 2022 from 9:30am to 11am, the rosary will be said at 9:30am, at Sacred Heart Chapel, 16501 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD where a mass will begin at 11am. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Birthright of Annapolis, 277 K Peninsula Farm Rd, Bldg 3, Arnold, Maryland, 21012.
