Marieanna Probst Kelly

Marieanna Probst Kelly, age 86, passed away peacefully at home, January 12, 2021. Born September 10, 1934 to the late Peter and Mary Probst, Washington, D.C. Graduated The Catholic University of America, 1956, with a dual major in Chemistry and Biology. She became a Junior Virologist at NIH. Married Col. John B. Kelly, 1957. She is survived by children Elizabeth (m.Ted Young), Kathryn (m. Bill Fensterer) John and Peter (m. Jennifer Barden) and as ‘Oma’ to her 10 grandchildren. Marieanna and John lived both overseas and in numerous postings throughout the U.S. and she made friends wherever she went. Later she was the Veteran’s Educational Financial officer at The Catholic University of America. Charming, a terrific cook and a keen lover of art and literature, Marieanna enjoyed beautifying her home, Ashland Farm, hosting both book club meetings and fundraising events, including those for St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Prince George’s County Historical Association and the Marlborough Hunt Club. She and her husband traveled frequently after retirement including a 50 ^th wedding anniversary trip to China. She will be greatly missed.
