Marvin Ellsworth Sage, 97, of Arnold, Maryland passed away on April 13, 2021. He was born in Connellsville, PA on September 19, 1923 to parents Joseph Thomas and Mary Ester (nee Seals) Sage. He was a notable cross country runner during his years at Connellsville High School. He served in the Army during WWII and received a bronze star medal for his service in combat. In 1954, he relocated his family to Clinton, Maryland where he resided until 2013. He retired in 1988 as a tool room manager from the Potomac Electric Power Company. He was an avid reader, enjoyed long car drives, indulged in home improvements, and later in life, loved the companionship of his Dachshunds, Charlie and Freddie. Marvin is survived by his son Douglas Sage (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), daughter Carol Achstetter (husband Stephen, Greenbelt, MD), and stepdaughter Sandy Fagan (Kannapolis, NC). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Olive Bernice (nee Hughes, Tide, PA) Sage, sons Theodore and Joseph Sage, daughters Sharon Varhola and Deborah Sage, stepdaughter Bonnie Softa, brothers Thomas and George Sage, and son-in-law John Fagan. Visitation is on April 22 from 6 to 8 pm at Beall Funeral Home, Bowie, Maryland. A funeral mass is scheduled for April 23 at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davidsonville, Maryland with Rev. Andy Aaron presiding. The mass will be live streamed and can be accessed through Facebook or YouTube pages from the following website, www.holyfamilychurch.com. Burial is at 1 pm at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Rescue Alliance.
