Mary Ann Orsini (nee Smith), age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 7, 2021 after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Mary was born on July 26, 1941 in Upper Marlboro, MD to James and Margaret (Tayman) Smith. She graduated from Frederick Sasscer High School in 1959. Mary Ann dedicated her professional career to Prince George’s County Fire Department. She served as an Administrative Aide at the Prince Goerge's Fire/EMS Department Training Academy in Cheltenham, MD, at times coordinating the administrative needs of the Lieutenant Colonel. Mary was instrumental in the planning and coordination of graduation ceremonies and receptions for each new recruit class. When the department was bestowed the honor of a Unit Citation Award, Mary’s hard work and dedication was applauded. Mary’s commitment to the Department was palpable, and point of great pride for her as well as her family.
A loving mother, Mary Ann was incredibly devoted to her boys, for whom she made endless sacrifice. She raised three sons: Danny, Kevin and Michael. Mary loved music and dancing. One of her greatest joys was spending time with cousins, nieces, and friends, taking part in both.
Mary was preceded in death by her father James, her mother Margaret, her son John, and 13 siblings. She is survived by her sons Danny (Monica), Kevin (Phoebe) and Michael (Crissy), her five grandchildren Cristina, Kyle, Zackary, Dominic, and Avery, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
