Mary Stetina, wife of Francis Stetina , mother to Francis Jr., Christopher and James , and grandmother to Rachael, died surrounded by loved ones, on February 10, 2021. She was 82 years old.
Mary was born on July 9, 1938 to Samuel Raymond and Margaret Trimbath in Masontown PA. She has one younger brother, Raymond. Mary was the first person in her family to go to college. She became a Chinese translator for the federal government, in Washington DC. While working in Washington she met and married Francis Stetina. Mary left the government to raise her family.
Mary always had a love of theater and acting and when her children were young in the 70’s and 80’s she acted in a number of roles in community theater, including “A Midsummer Night’s dream,” “Persephone” and “Bus Stop.”
In retirement, Mary and her husband travelled frequently and whenever possible enjoyed bringing the extended family to places such as Hawaii and Toronto. Additionally, Mary had alway been a sports fan, and later in life, she and her husband spent many hours enjoying watching diving, ice skating, tennis, golf and football. She enjoyed reading and playing Sudoku. She never tired of seeing artwork from her Grandchild Rachael.
Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Francis, her son Francis Jr. and Daughter in law Pam Stetina, son Christopher Stetina, son James Stetina, daughter in law Naomi Berkenbilt and her grandchild Rachael Stetina. Mary is also survived by her brother Raymond Trimbath, his wife Nettie Trimbath and their children and grandchildren.
