Maryann Bernadette Bedingfield

September 29, 1940 — June 11, 2021

Annapolis - Maryann Bernadette (Wagner) Bedingfield, age 80, of Crofton MD., passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021. In her final days, she was surrounded by her beloved family who gave her immeasurable comfort and support. Her husband of 60 years, Samuel Gerald Bedingfield rarely left her side—ever and during her last moments. Maryann was born in Jamacia, NY to the late Charles and Mary Wagner. She grew up in Farmingdale, N.Y. and was a graduate of Weldon E Howitt High School class of 1958.  She raised her family on Long Island and in Maryland where they all thrived.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. Her love for newborn children was unapparelled (especially grandchildren who kept her youthful and up to date on all comings and goings as they grew up).  It is family lore that on at least one occasion she arrived at the hospital to assist with the delivery of the next generation before the mother- to- be was admitted.

She was a devout Catholic her whole life and was a member of the Catholic Rosary Guild and her parish choir (particularly enjoying ChristmasEve Mass).  Maryann achieved Life Master in Bridge.  She liked and enjoyed league bowling, once scoring a three-game total of 628.  Maryann was a fierce and vocal Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan.  She was always willing to wager one dollar on her favorite team.  She opened the door to her and Jerry’s home to family and friends, especially for late night talks. She loved to crochet, and every child, grandchild and great grandchild received the fruits of her love.

Maryann was the beloved wife of Samuel Gerald Bedingfield. She is survived by her seven children: Gerald (Jerry) Paul Bedingfield, his wife Ellen Slipp, Carol Elizabeth Dress and her husband Edward George Dress Jr, Thomas Bedingfield, Ronald Bedingfield, his wife Donna Bedingfield, Robert Bedingfield, Douglas Bedingfield, his wife Karen Bedingfield, Kristina Pierce and her husband Benjamin Pierce. She was predeceased by parents and brother Charles Wagner. She is survived by her 17 grandchildren: Tess Helen Marie Bedingfield, Hank Samuel Bedingfield, William McCarthy Bedingfield, Kellie Christine Brown (her husband Nicholas Mark Brown,) Kerri Marie Dress, Jill Annette Dress, Bradley Edward Dress, Atticus Bedingfield, Tibet Bedingfield, Quinn Bedingfield, Nicholas Bedingfield, Amanda Bedingfield, Daniel Bedingfield, Anthony Bedingfield, Sammy Bedingfield, Vincent Bedingfield, and Christian Bedingfield. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren: Lucie Elizabeth Brown, Jeremy Nicholas Brown, and Adalynn Bedingfield.
