Michael B. Himes

December 21, 1957 — January 27, 2024

Bowie

Michael (Mike) Barry Himes was born in Washington, DC on December 21, 1957, and departed this life peacefully, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, surrounded by his family to live in eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 27, 2024. He was 66 years old.

Mike was born in Washington, DC and was raised in Morningside, MD. In 1982, Mike married his wife, Christine (Chris) and lived in Bowie, where they raised their 5 children. He worked as a sheet metal mechanic until his retirement. He was a member of Belcroft Bible Church.

Mike enjoyed the great outdoors and could often be found hunting, fishing, and camping. In recent years, Mike could be found watching any movie featuring Tom Hanks, and rooting for his favorite sports teams, the Commanders (aka Redskins), and the Washington Capitals. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mike will be remembered for his servant’s heart who eagerly devoted his life to serving the Lord and those around him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Alan Sr and Betty Himes, and 3 brothers Lee Alan Jr (Margie), Randy, and Dennis (Darlene).  He is survived by his wife, Chris, daughter Nicole Law (Steve), daughter Kimberly Himes (Scott McDaniel), son Michael R Himes Sr (Michelle), daughter Chelsea Minton (Marty), son Joseph Himes, and grandchildren Ellie and Ryder (Chelsea), Michael R Himes Jr (Michael), Natalee and Dylan (Kimberly), and Adelaide, Levi and Zachary (Nicole).  He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Michel Brady (Bruce), and Ronda Himes, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who dearly loved him.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at Belcroft Bible Church (13000 Beechtree Lane, Bowie MD).
