Michael C. Loiodice
January 7, 1954 – December 4, 2020
On December 4, 2020, Michael C. Loiodice, loving son, partner, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at the age of 66. He was born on January 7, 1954 in Queens County, NY to Michael and Jean Alice (Barnard) Loiodice, now Mrs. Jean Walters. At a young age, Michael was fascinated by electronics, computers, technology, science, magic, and photography.
He graduated from Fonda Fultonville School in Montgomery County, NY and was a member of the Honor Society, Rocket Society, 4H Society, the Ski Club, and the band and orchestra. He played the trombone and piano in school, and the piano and pipe organ in various churches. He was a photographer for his high school and his passion and skill in photography remained throughout his life. The Adirondacks were special to Michael and a place in which he loved to hike, camp, ski, and spend time.
He served in the US Air Force for eight years as a Telecommunications Systems/Maintenance Specialist. After being honorably discharged, he worked in the public and private sector as a field engineer, programmer analyst, and system analyst for 40 years.
For the last eight years, he served as a senior software developer in the Economic Directorate of the US Census Bureau. In that capacity, he was part of a small team who developed and maintained complex systems used to publish critical economic indicator data to the public. He was highly respected for his technical expertise, contributions, and commitment to the mission of the Census Bureau.
He was an avid social dancer, regularly contra dancing and waltzing at Glen Echo and other local and regional venues to the joy of all concerned. He was the tireless volunteer webmaster with the Baltimore Folk Music society for many years.
He had a lifelong love of old cars, British cars and Land Rovers in particular. Through Land Rovers and the adventures had with them, he made lifelong friendships. His wise council and sage advice on the matter of Lucas electrics and British wiring practices and foibles will be sorely missed
