Michael Keith Turner

April 6, 1966 — June 5, 2023

Washington, DC

On Monday, June 5, 2023 after several health complications, Michael Keith Turner transitioned to his heavenly home. Michael was born April 6, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland to Thomas Keith Turner aka Scooter (predeceased) and Anita Louise Davis-Turner.  Michael was educated in the Baltimore Public School system where he earned his GED certificate and later enrolled in college courses.  As an adult,  Michael was a security guard by trade.  He worked a few jobs in the city including central booking, gas and electric and the carnival cruise line out of Baltimore.

Michael was an avid lover of all things sci-fi, marvel, comics, anime and fantasy.  He was a self-proclaimed nerd and proudly displayed clothing, collectibles and created models of the things he loved.  Purple blood ran through Michael’s veins – yes he was a Baltimore Ravens fan!  Michael LOVED food!  Steak, potatoes, corn and string beans were his staple favorites.  His guilty pleasures also included his Aunt Bert's crab cakes and lasagna recipes he learned from his Grandmother aka Mama.

In 2016, Michael joined partnership with Capital Christian Fellowship in Greenbelt, Maryland.  He was part of the Men’s Ministry, the Media Team and would on occasion be drawn into the ad hoc security team.   It was through those that he forged deep and meaningful relationships with the men that would walk by his side through the rest of his journey.

It was March 2017 when Michael began regular 3-days a week dialysis treatments that would continue for the 6 years to follow.  Despite his health, Michael never stopped living life!  He still traveled to do and see the things he loved. He never stopped loving sci-fi, fantasy and superheroes.  He regularly built Gundam models out of model kits and created spaceship models out of aluminum foil, an activity he did even as a child. You could count on Michael to know most movie and 80’s music trivia. Michael walked to the beat of his own drum and he allowed others to do the same.  He was real, he was authentic and he was true to himself.

Cherishing and celebrating his memory is his mother, Anita Turner and his wife, Kimberly Moore Turner whom he married July 31, 2015; four step-children, Matthew Thorne (Nina), Nate Thorne (Krystle), Jordan Thorne and Angel Thorne; eight grandchildren,  Amaiia, Ashlie, Angel, Matthew (predeceased), Adrianna, Kaira, Joshua and Demarcus; siblings, Theodore Jackson and Anita Armstrong-Myers (predeceased), Tara Turner and step-brother Derwin Lucas.  Michael will also be remembered and missed by his aunts and uncle, Bert Queen, Jetta Queen, Majorie Hicks, Barbara McDowell aka Bootsie and Randy Turner; nieces and nephew Anita, Francika, Debra, Demi and Frandus. In addition to cousins, other family members and close friends.
