Nancy J. Cutair, 73, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away on June 24. The daughter and oldest child of June and Donald Auer, she grew up in Arbutus. She was a graduate of Seton High School in Baltimore City, the University of Maryland in College Park, and Johns Hopkins University. She taught at Arbutus Middle School for several years before joining the State of Maryland Department of Health, where she worked for over forty years, rising to become administrator of several Medicaid programs. She was loved by her family, neighbors, and co-workers for her fierce wit, remarkable generosity, and striking abilities and professional competence. Devoted to her dogs, she also enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, and interior design. Her home, which she opened for many years to Chinese international students attending UMBC, was an elegant oasis of beauty, order, and calm. She is survived by her mother, June Auer, and her brother Michael. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Crofton. Interment will be private. Due to the current pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Defenders of Animal Rights, Inc., 14412 Old York Road, Phoenix, MD 21131.
