Nancy M. Parks

Nancy Mae Parks, 89, passed away peacefully on August 8^th, 2021. Loving mother of Douglas M. Parks (Steveline), Janice Rodriguez (Jose), Keith Parks (Kim), and Brian Parks (Renee). She was cherished by her 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren as well as many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

The last of the “Greatest Generation” in our family, she was a first-generation American born to Italian immigrant parents in Philadelphia in 1932 but since 1968 had lived in Bowie, MD. She is best remembered for being able to talk to anyone at any time in any situation as well as being the main “organizer” for family events and holidays. Family was so vitally important to her, and her deepest wish was that we continue to cherish it in the succeeding generations.

While raising her four children, she had part-time jobs in several local retail stores, including “Super Giant” and Sears (Including the catalog store) in Bowie and Annapolis. Her innate ability to and enjoyment of talking to people made her chosen vocation a perfect fit. Along with her late husband, Douglas Parks, she was also a fixture at the local Knights of Columbus hall, serving in the Ladies’ Auxiliary and as Head Waitress.

She will be remembered as a loyal and trusted friend who loved getting people together for parties or a simple cup of coffee at the kitchen table.

Friends can call at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3 South), Bowie, MD on August 12^th from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD on August 13^th at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA on Monday the 16^th at noon.
