Mrs. Tran passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at home in Clarksville, Maryland on Monday, December 6, 2021. The oldest of ten siblings, she was born in Siem Reap, Cambodia in 1932. She married Mr. Tann Chhay Sim in 1951, and together they had 4 boys and 1 girl. After experiencing the horrors of the Khmer Rouge regime and losing her husband and 3 of her children, she escaped Cambodia in 1980 with her two remaining sons, Hien and Hun. They settled in Philadelphia to begin a new life in 1981.
Fortunately, her time in the United States was filled with happiness and joy. She worked tirelessly to support her sons as they found success in their lives and careers. Nay-Houy gave back to the community by building schools, temples, and hospitals back in Cambodia. She also witnessed her grandchildren grow up, finish college, and pursue their own professional journeys. Having lived a full and joyous life, Nay-Houy is survived by her son, Hun, daughter-in-laws, Sou and Kim (Ah Pao) and her 6 grandchildren, Adam, Vincent, Raymond, Emily, Alina, and Vannak. Additionally, she is survived by 3 sisters, Nay-Louy, Nay-Ji, and Nay-Zhi, and 2 brothers, Theur and Chamroeun.
