Neil Robert Bloomberg, of Bowie, Maryland, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 61 years of age. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia, his daughters Sarah (Guy) Essman from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Melissa (Cory) Snyder from Christiansburg, Virginia, his mother, Lois Bloomberg from Kissimmee, Florida, and two brothers, Stuart Bloomberg from Kissimmee, Florida and Jeffrey (Robin) Bloomberg from Monroe, Michigan. Neil is preceded in death by his father, Sanford Bloomberg of Columbus, Ohio. He is greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

In 1980, Neil received a Bachelor’s of Science from Carnegie Melon University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He loved everything having to do with electronics, especially Amateur Radio acquiring his Extra Class license and receiving many awards. Neil was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them, particularly when it involved vacations in Maine where he enjoyed hiking and sailing among other activities. He was known for his unusual sense of humor which endeared him to many. Neil was also a life time Star Trek fan and couldn’t resist a good sci-fi movie or television show.

Neil was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Bowie where he loved spending time with his church family, participating in various activities since 1986. Although an introvert, Neil liked welcoming new people to the church and was known for his sincere hospitality. While his family misses him greatly, they have full confidence that he is at peace with God.

A private funeral service and burial will be held. A memorial service will be scheduled for family and friends at a later date.
