Nicola Ciccarello (Nick) of Crofton, MD, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on January 30th, 2022. He was the second-born child of late parents Francesco and Carmela Ciccarello.
If there ever was an angel on earth, free of the sins and temptations of this world, Nick was that angel. Other than his mother’s cooking, and a really good pizza, Nick neither coveted worldly possessions nor envied those that did. Nick only wished the best for everyone around him, always putting others first, and received true joy from spending time with his family, watching reruns of “I Love Lucy” with his mother…and enjoying a really good pizza!
A little-known fact about Nick is that he met and knew well his future brother-in-law, and one of his future sisters-in-law well before his sister and brother ever met them. Maybe karma, but we are sure Nick’s kind soul played a role in bringing his family together. And although he didn’t meet his other sister-in-law in advance, his brother certainly knew he needed Nick’s approval! Nick’s family meant everything to him…his family was his life. Nick loved all his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. It wasn’t hard for them to get Nick to cater to their every whim, especially taking them to Rita’s to get ice cream whenever they wanted.
To have known Nick, was to have loved him. We will all miss Nick’s quirky sense of humor, his love of great food, and the unconditional love he gave to everyone. Although Nick is no longer with us, we feel his presence shine through when we gather as a family. Nick is survived by his sister, Cathy Barbaro, and brothers, Tony Ciccarello and Leo Ciccarello, his brother-in-law, Antonino Barbaro, two sisters-in-law, Candice Ciccarello and Nancy Ciccarello, and his adoring nieces and nephews, Giovanna, Carmela, Joseph, Frankie, Matteo, Gabi, Anthony, and Sophia.
