Nikolaos (Nick) V. Polizos (81) of Silver Spring, MD fell asleep unto the Lord on October 8th, 2022.
He is the beloved husband of Maria Polizos of 53 years; loving father of Bill N. (Eleni), Elizabeth Townsend (Michael) and John N. (Kaliopi); adored and loved Papou of Maria E., Nicholas V. (Niko) and Sophia (Bill & Eleni), Zoe (Elizabeth & Michael), Maria K., Faye, Nikolas J. (Niko) and Michael (John & Kaliopi). He is also survived by his brother John Polizos, and sisters Georgia Papaspirou, Ellie Mallos and Xanthi Noutsos.
Nick was born January 12, 1941 in the small village of Voutirou, Evrytanias, Greece. He is the youngest of 7 siblings.
Along with his parents, Vasilios and Elisavet, he was preceded in death by his sisters Ekaterini Ioakim and Filoula Zaharopoulos.
In 1963 he immigrated to the United States. On July 13, 1969 Nick married Maria Haralambou.
They were the first couple to wed in the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Winchester, Virginia. They raised their three children in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Nick was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends. Gardening was a hobby that brought him great joy. He looked forward to wine making every Fall and sharing his craft with everyone. A fanatic of all Washington sports which he enjoyed with a passion.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church on Friday October 14, 2022. Visitation from 12:00 - 1:00 PM with a funeral service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm.
