Olga Howard Mason

Olga H. Mason (Ditty), 85 of Bowie Maryland, entered eternal rest on August 31, 2022 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson.  Mrs. Mason was born in Border, Saint Andrew Parish, Jamaica, West Indies on September 16, 1936, a daughter of the late Herman Stewart and Mary Elizabeth Stewart.  She was employed for 26 years at the former Western Electric in Orange Connecticut, as a phone repair technician and a shop steward. She retired after Western Electric disbanded and spent a number of years living in Albany Georgia, West Palm Beach Florida, Cordova Tennessee and Bowie Maryland. Mrs. Mason had to work as a young girl and did not make it past 4^th grade, but she was extremely intelligent and an avid learner who thrived to excel and made the most of her life.  Mrs. Mason’s lived for her children, grandchildren, her siblings, extended family and friends and loved every chance she got to travel with them. She was a world traveler whether by plane, car, train or ship including 20 or more cruises.  She traveled to visit family or just to explore places such as South Africa, Japan, South Korea, Guam, Hong Kong, Panama, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Greece, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, England, Ireland and most of the Caribbean Islands. She will be remembered for the love and welcome she gave to everyone, her openness, her love of bowling, card playing especially bid whist, and just sitting down to a friendly but competitive game of dominoes with family and friends; but most of all for her kindness.

Our mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend will be greatly missed.  She often said that she had a good life.  She blessed us with wonderful and healing memories of our time sharing that life with her.  She leaves behind her sons Paul Howard, Trevor Howard; her daughters Ava-Marie Howard and Paulette Anderson; ex-daughter in-law Deborah Howard and ex sons-in-law Jeffrey Anderson and Paul Simmons; 8 grandsons Paul Howard Jr, Trevor Howard Jr, Jared Howard, Jorden Howard, Brandon Simmons, Ian Simmons, Jonathan Simmons, and Ethan Anderson; 2 granddaughter-in-laws, Krystal Howard and Krystle Acevedo Howard; 2 great grandsons Trevor Howard III, Xavier Howard; 2 great granddaughters Skylar Howard and Inari Howard; her sister Myrtle Sybble; step-children Patricia Mason, Marie Mason, Tracey Chamberlin, and Anthony Mason; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends across the globe. She was predeceased by her brother Rudolph Clarke, her Sister Enid Ballantine and ex-husbands Alfred Howard and Kenneth Mason.

There will be a viewing Friday, 9 September at Caballero Rivero Southern Memorial Home15011 West Dixie Highway North Miami, FL 33181.  The funeral service will be held at 12 pm Saturday, 10 September at County Line New Testament Worship Center at 4065 SW 40^th Avenue West Park, Florida 33023. A viewing will be held at the church from 1100-1200.  The burial will be in Caballero Rivero Dade North, 1301 NW Opa Locka Blvd Miami, FL 33167.
