Patricia “Sue” Ann Young, 88, of Bowie Maryland passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on November 24th, 2022.
Born on October 1st, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of Albert Joseph Hall and Helen S. Hall. She is preceded by her brothers Richard Charles Hall and John Carroll Hall. She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Theodore Llewellyn Young Jr., her brother Albert Stephen Hall, her five children, Karen Menzie, Donna Stephan, Kevin Young, Theodore Young III, and Daniel Young. Also survived by her five grandchildren, Silas Stephan, Jacob Young, Lauren Young, Justin Young, and Jocelyn Young.
Sue graduated Seton Catholic High School in 1952, married her husband Ted in 1953, and dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a highly active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she earned the golden circle award for over 50 years of service, was named Woman of the Year and Valentine Princess many times, and served as a council member, advisor, Vice President, and President for the Preceptor Lambda Chapter. She was most recently the Service Chairman and organized monthly charity projects for the chapter, to include creating and donating baby kits for the visiting nurse program, the Linus Project-blankets for children in trauma, Toys for Tots, Backpack Buddies for elementary schools, and providing the homeless with meals and clothing.
Sue loved everyone unconditionally and supported her husband and children through thick and thin, no matter what curve balls were thrown into their lives. Family was always first and she would drop everything at moment’s notice to take care of whomever was in a jam. She loved to spend as much time as she could with her grandchildren. She supported them all as if they were her own children and never blinked an eye when the opportunity came to spend time with them or help them in their time of need.
Sue was selfless, caring, giving, persistent, strong, and loving to all those around her. She put everyone ahead of herself and gave her undivided attention to those she was around. She was a feisty fighter for what was right and never backed down from a challenge. She practiced what she preached and shared her wisdom with everyone she could. She was the counselor to all her children and grandchildren, and always made time, put in effort, and sacrificed her own desires to be there for them. Her brightness would light up any dark day.
She enjoyed traveling as the co-pilot to her husband and taking trips to visit friends and family, including 50 consecutive years of Wildwood, NJ family reunion vacations. She was a serial bargain hunter and avid shopper. She loved to play card games and Yahtzee with the family as well as watch every episode of Law & Order. Sue also enjoyed playing and hosting her bridge group. She loved to entertain and hosted countless holidays, Super Bowl parties, birthdays, and crab feasts. She was a proud Marylander, cherished her roots in Baltimore, and was a huge Baltimore Colts and Baltimore Ravens fan.
