We celebrate the life and memories of Paul Lewis Nebel who passed away on January 5th, 2022 at the age of 70.
Paul was born in Prince Georges County on November 7, 1951 to Harry and Frances Nebel. He spent most of his childhood there before moving to Calvert County, where he graduated from Calvert High School in 1969. After graduating from high school, Paul proudly served in the U.S. Airforce, before starting his career with the US Capitol Police. Paul was an accomplished law enforcement officer who retired as a detective after 30 years of dedicated service. Paul always joked that he spent his entire life in uniform growing up as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout.
In 1990 Paul met his lovely wife, Terry, while both were working for the US Capitol Police. They dated for many years and married in 2003. Paul continued to be the light of Terry’s life throughout their eighteen years of marriage. She was his rock as he faced the progression of Lewy Body Dementia, and was by his side when he passed.
One of their favorite things to do was spend time in Ocean City, celebrating Terry’s birthday, as well as attending the spring and fall car shows. Paul enjoyed the simple things in life like spending time with family and friends. He loved his Washington Redskins and Ole Yeller. Ole Yeller was his ‘57 Chevy which he spent countless hours rebuilding with his own hands.
After retirement, Paul and Terry relocated to the Shenandoah Valley for 12 years. In 2016, they moved to Two Rivers in Odenton, Maryland where they met many new friends, with whom Paul enjoyed playing corn hole, shooting pool and attending neighborhood parties.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Frances, brother Dennis and sister, Valerie. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Terry; brother Mark (Laurie); two children, Paul (Michelle) and Michelle; stepchildren, Rhonda and Leah (Joe); eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
A viewing is scheduled for Friday, January 14th, from 6 – 8 pm at Beall Funeral Home. There will be an internment/memorial service at Crownsville Veterans cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the following charities in his name:

Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days,
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that leave when life is done.
Unknown Poet
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes;
and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain:
for former things are passed away.”
