Dad, I don't even know where to start.
For 41years you never left my side
People say they are close with their parents
But not many if any like you and I
I've been trying to write to you day after day
But writers block has played its part
I just can't come to terms of saying goodbye
Cause reality brings so much pain and crushes my heart
Ever since the day I was born, on mother's day that year to be exact.
You picked me up when I was down and always had my back
You didn't come from riches
Everything you had you worked hard and earned.
You taught me my independence
And work hard ethics I did learn
Let's talk about my highlights as a child
So many I could never list them all
Our Thursday night dinner dates to pizza hut, lake anna, shooting guns, boat rides, fishing we always had a ball
You took me everywhere with you
Ritchie firehouse when I had no sitter at all
Will never forget riding in the fire truck
And keeping my head down cause we may have been breaking the law
Sitting in your Limo at the bus stop
October fest party's, cotton candy machine, moonbounces and so much more
The late night poker games, camping, cruises, man oh man did we love to explore
As I got older and made you a poppop
So nervous and excited for me
With no how to handbook you became an amazing poppop and not only to my 3
Every kid that crossed your path became attached and always a smile on their face
Cause you loved to make others happy no matter the color, size or race
Your career became with ABC supply
The most devoted and quick to succeed
Due to your passion in your work
The top salesman you would be
You once made a speech at a conference
Tips on how to succeed
For those of you that missed it
Be quick to return a call and the word "No" did not exist with he
Dad, you accumulated so many rewards throughout life and never displayed for people to see
You were not one to show off or glote, so I am making a Paul wall, cause so proud you made me be
For those of you who didn't know, my dad recently lived with me
And even though he drove me nuts
There is no where else I'd rather him be
I've recently learned an alarm goes off every day at 1pm
Reminding you to pray
But not for your pain or sorrow but for all of you reading this today
So many hearts and souls you touched
Such a kind loving man
You mean the world to me and I will always be your #1 fan
So Dad when I wake up each morning hoping to see your face or the days I attempt to call you on the phone
Please stand by me and hold my hand and remind me that I'm not alone
I love you Dad and miss you more then you could ever imagine Paul Nixon
