On the evening of Wednesday March 27, 2019 at about 7:30pm, our beloved mother, grandma and great grandma passed away peacefully at home in Bowie, MD.
Pearl was born on March 13, 1927 in a countryside place called Fair Prospect – Long Bay, Portland, Jamaica in the West Indies. The second of eleven children to late Thomas Hylton Panton and Late Pastora Panton. She was married to the late Engineer Abung Ofuka Abung.
Pearl had her education in England where she did nursing and midwifery. She worked in several university teaching hospitals in Nigeria and retired as chief matron.
Pearl then migrated to the United States to join her oldest daughter Lana Cole in Queens, New York. She worked at a Jewish Hospital before finally retiring for good to take care of her grandchildren in Maryland.
Left to mourn her memory are three sisters, three daughters, three sons-in-law, two sons, twelve grandchildren and one great grandson.
Family will receive friends at Beall Funeral Home 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, Maryland 20715 on April 13, 2019. Viewing from 2pm to 3pm followed by a service at 3pm.
Then finally a repast afterwards at Oxford Event Ctr. 9700 Martin L. King Hwy, Lanham MD 20706.
Pearl will finally fulfil her wish of being funeralized beside her parents in Fair Prospect, Long Bay, Jamaica on April 26, 2019.
May her soul Rest In Perfect Peace.
